Album Review: Young Hearts by Benny Sings
Album: Young Hearts
Artist: Benny Sings
Label: Stones Throw Records
Score: A
Benny Sings has stayed true to his signature style with his latest album, Young Hearts. This delightful collection of 70s-inspired soft pop perfectly encapsulates the feelings of joy and happiness. With his familiar soft beats and distinctive voice, it’s the perfect soundtrack for lazy Sunday mornings spent cooking breakfast on a summer day.
Notable tracks for me consisted of “Distance” and “Love Will Find A Way” these two tracks both consist of sweet and light melodies that feature lyrics such as “Did you like the cards I sent you?/ Don’t you think they say a lot?/ Summers they don’t last forever” and “Guess I see it now/ We’re better off somehow/ Even though the band doesn’t play/ Love will find a way.”
Young Hearts sets a tone of laid-back fun that is impossible to resist. Sings’ smooth and effortless vocals are complemented by the lush instrumentation, creating a sound that is both nostalgic and fresh. The catchy melodies and upbeat rhythm will have you tapping your feet and singing along in no time.
Throughout the album, Sings’ songwriting shines with its simple yet effective storytelling. The lyrics are relatable and easy to connect with, capturing moments of joy, love, and life’s simple pleasures — you’re surely to find a song you’re able to relate to in no time. If you’re looking for the perfect summer album, look no further.
