I think that some of the tactics used by UofC may be of use to our institution as well. More information in a fun and informative way may be of use to students.

I know I’m going to be voting in the election but that is because I have a great deal of information regarding what is going on in the SA and what is happening on campus.

Kat Goodfellow’s comment is a notable one regarding more information. I think this is valid to a point but her logic seems marred by the fact that she doesn’t have any time to read the information if it were available to her. I know many students state that they would vote if more data or records were available, but out membership is incredibly busy holding down part-time employment and full-time studies. How would they find the time to read all the information we would eventually send out to them? We need to find innovative ways to stay on top of what our membership organizations are doing on our behalf. Similarly we need this new generation to keep track of the public and private institutions that hold our tax dollars and our trusted investments. It is the organization’s responsibility to provide information to its members, but we also must take some responsibility as members to keep our organizations accountable. What is the solution?
